Our Process

Connect with Me
We start this process with an idea and intention. I’ll gather information from you about your design style, hopes for the garment, and timeline. We get excited! I pull together possible looks, fabrics ideas, and any other components that go into the garment design and we schedule our first meeting.

Design Consult and Fitting
You can come to me, or I’ll come to you. At this point we have decided to work together, and in this meeting we finalize the design and have a full fitting – where I take the body measurements needed to create the garment. 

Garment Creation
This is the behind the scenes work. I’ll design your garment and create a mockup in muslin for our first garment fitting. I’ll also start sourcing materials. I gather fabric swatches and notions (buttons, zippers, etc) for you to choose from at our garment fitting. 

Garment Fittings
There will be at least two scheduled garment fittings to ensure your garment is exactly as you’d like it. During this time, we finalize your fabric choice and any design elements added to your garment. Depending on the complexity of your garment, more fittings may be required. 

Garment Pickup
The garment is ready for you and can be picked up or dropped off. Woot!

Timeline
Please allow at least 3-6 months before your deadline for this process. Depending on the complexity and fabric sourcing, a longer timeline may be needed, such as 6 months or more. 

Cost
My pricing is based on design complexity, sewing time, and materials cost. Throughout the process, you can expect to place three payments.

First Payment: Prior to our first meeting, I send an estimate, so you have a sense of the overall cost. I require a payment of $75 to schedule our design consultation and fitting.

Second Payment: After our consultation, I modify the estimate as needed and I lay out a contract which includes the cost* and timeline. I require a payment of ½ of the cost to begin work.

Third Payment: I require a payment of the balance still remaining when the garment is picked up or dropped off.

*Additional Costs: any additional costs not laid out in our contract will be relayed and approved by you. Examples of additional costs are unanticipated travel fees, extra fit sessions, and/or material (fabric + notions) costs that exceed the agreed upon pricing. Travel Fee: Fittings in your home and delivery of your garment may be available based on your location. All travel accrues an additional fee.
